Government

Special Services at Home (SSAH)

This program provides provincial funding to help with costs related to respite, support for daily activities, personal growth and development for your child with physical and/or developmental disabilities.

Assistance for Children with Severe Disabilities (ACSD)

This program provides financial support to help families with the costs of caring for a child with severe disabilities.

Disability Tax Credit (DTC)

The Disability Tax Credit (DTC) is a non-refundable Canadian tax credit that helps people with disabilities, or their supporting family members, reduce the amount of income tax they may have to pay.

It is designed to assist individuals with severe and prolonged physical or mental impairments by offsetting some of the extra costs associated with their disability. It can be claimed by the person with the disability or by a supporting family member, such as a parent or spouse, to reduce taxable income and potentially increase access to other benefits.

Registered Disability Savings Plan (RDSP)

The RDSP is a Canadian government savings plan designed to help people with disabilities save for the long term, with contributions matched by grants and bonds from the federal government.

This long-term savings account is specifically for Canadians with disabilities who are approved for the Disability Tax Credit (DTC) to help save for future financial needs, offering both tax-deferred growth and government contributions

The Access 2 Card Program is a Canadian initiative managed by Easter Seals Canada that helps individuals with permanent disabilities access entertainment, cultural, and recreational venues without financial barriers. When an Access 2 cardholder pays regular admission at a participating location, the person accompanying them (support person or caregiver) gets free or discounted admission.

Incontinence Supplies Grant – Easter Seals

This grant provides financial support to families in Ontario for children and youth aged 3–18 with chronic disabilities that result in incontinence or retention problems. Administered by Easter Seals Ontario on behalf of the Ministry of Health, it is designed to help families offset the cost of incontinence supplies such as diapers, pull-ups, attends, swimmers, and catheters (including straight, Foley, and drainage bags).

Top Up Grant – Easter Seals

The Top Up Grant is an extra payment toward the cost of incontinence supplies, such as diapers for children who are receiving the Incontinence Supplies Grant and Assistance for Children with Severe Disabilities (ACSD). The program is offered each year, subject to funding availability from the government, and each eligible client receives a single top up payment.

Autism Ontario’s Seasonal Reimbursement Funding: March Break & Summer Camps

To help offset the costs associated with activities during off-school time periods, Autism Ontario offers two seasonal, one-time reimbursement funds. The funding comes from the Ontario Ministry of Children, Community and Social Services.

These funds operate via a randomized draw system rather than first-come, first-served, ensuring every applicant has an equal opportunity to receive assistance. You can submit an application for multiple siblings if you have more than one autistic child.

Children and youth with a confirmed autism diagnosis are eligible up to their 18th birthday.
